Instructions For Baking Italian Bread
The first step in backing great Italian bread is to take 1 cup of 115 deg. Water and dissolve 1 package of fast rising yeast into the water. In a mixer add 3 cups of all propose flour, and 1 tablespoon salt, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and the 1 cup of yeast and water. Turn the mixer on a mix the dough until all of the contents have balled up. In a bowl coat it with a little bit of olive oil and place the dough ball into the bowl. Let the bread dough rise for about 1 ½ hour, and the dough ball has doubled in volume. Remove the bread dough from the bowl and place it on a floured bread board, and punch the dough and knead it until it is ½ the size it was. Form the dough into a tube shaped form. Cut the top of the bread with a knife length wise, and paint on some of the egg white. Set the Italian bread out to rise of about 25 more minutes. In a pre heated oven place the Italian bread loaf onto a greased baking sheet. Bake the bread for about 25 minutes. Set the Italian bread on a backing rack to coll for about 10 minutes. Cut and serve the bread with butter or spice infused olive oil.
