Yo, yo, yo! It’s your boy, Glenn the bald chef, and I’m here to show y’all how to whip up a regional fave that’ll knock your socks off – the legendary Maryland crab cake sandwich! You might not know it, but this bad boy is a BIG deal around these parts. And let me tell you, the key to makin’ the best crab cake of your life is keepin’ it simple, baby. So, let’s get crackin’!

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons of panko breadcrumbs
  • Old Bay seasoning mix (about 1 teaspoon)
  • 8 ounces of back fin lump crabmeat
  • Safflower oil (or butter or a deep fryer)
  • Fresh lemon (optional)

Cooking Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix the egg and panko breadcrumbs together.
  2. Add Old Bay seasoning mix and stir.
  3. Gently fold in the crabmeat, taking care not to break up the chunks too much.
  4. Form the mixture into patties.
  5. Heat up safflower oil in a pan and gently place the patties in the pan. Cook for about 5 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  6. Optional: Squeeze fresh lemon juice on top of the crab cakes for a little bit of citrus flavor.
  7. Serve and enjoy!
